I apologize for the lack of communication for the past couple of weeks. Things have been fairly busy for me, but progress has been made. Staff had a discussion regarding how skills should work and decided against an EXP-based system in favor of a more Eve-like progression system. Instead of repetitively earning experience over and over again, advancement will be time based like the original Eve Online. We decided to go this route because of various reasons. First of all, this eliminates the need to "grind out" levels. You don't have to just sit there constantly killing the same ships to progress your character. Secondly, this allows players to play as casual or hard core as they like since training skills occurs in real time and even while you are off line. Now, you may be thinking that older players will always have the advantage over younger players. Let me reassure you - this will not be the case. While it is true that older players will have MORE things better to them, a new player can always specialize to match up with older ones. And always keep in mind that bigger does not necessarily mean better. This is just a short overview of some of the system re-designs we're doing so stay tuned for more dev logs. We're getting close to release, so stick with us!
