Sorry, late again. Exams are coming up so I may not have time to post a devlog next week. There will be one afterward, though.
Module Name!
The banner doesn't reflect the change yet but everything else on the forums does. You've probably seen that we have changed the module name to Solar Odyssey Online.
The banner will be updated soon to have the new title.
Progress
We haven't updated you all with our actual progress in a few weeks now so I'd like to take the time to do so this week.
Space System AI
I'm still working on the AI (artificial intelligence) for NPC ships. Not sure what that means? Well, let me explain.
AI is what determines what enemies do and when they do it. Say the NPC reaches 75% HP and is consistently losing HP. Do they continue to fight or is it time to turn on an armor repairer? If it is, is it worth wasting the ship's capacitor? What if multiple ships are attacking? Who does the NPC target and for how long? When should we run?
All of these questions have to be answered and this is what I'm currently working on.
Areas
The team has been hard at work designing the areas in which the players will travel. Planet Cyrix, a low-technology planet is currently in design and will be finished soon. In addition to this planet, several space stations are also constantly being worked on. I hope to have screenshots of these areas up by the next devlog.
Release Date
I previously announced that Solar Odyssey Online would be up for play sometime in May, or June at the latest. I just want to reassure you all that this is still in the plans. We're working hard to bring you the best server possible. Please be patient, it will come soon!
