The Museum of Avantasian & Solarian Archeology (MASA) was founded along with the Hunters Lodge early in the Zheckshan Precincts history.
Their purpose was to accomodate the human desire for exploration into the new, natural world and also to rediscover and re-examine the scattered remaining artifacts belonging to the Solarian world.
The Hunters Lodge was an institution focussed upon goals that brought immediate material gain., where as MASA's drive was one of understanding; to unravel the mysteries of both the present world and the Solarian one.
MASA is primarily government owned and run, however it does service the commercial sector through third party contracts.
MASA's specific aims were - and are still today:
1. To investigate apparently supernatural phenomena that pervades the Avantasian planets varied landscapes and species.
2. To retrieve and study the countless technologies of Solarian civiliation that were lost during the centuries that followed the Avant's crash landing.
The operating ideals of MASA draw heavily upon the legacy left by Caleb Zheckshan, the famous, enterprising adventurer and explorer for whom the Zheckshan Precinct is named. (See: History of the Zheckshan Precinct.)
Caleb's efforts inspired generations of like-minded adventurers, many of whom took to heart his rigorous scientific approach.
MASA supports a similar worldview and prefers to acquire and study volumes of Avantasian and Solarian artifacts and data, prior to advancing theories which try to explain the origin and workings of either.
To this end, the organisation requires the services of many hundreds of daring explorers: It requires people who find deep meaning and worthy purpose in identifying and understanding their culture's roots.
Further sweetening the deal, MASA offers substantial rewards and the prospect of fame; Prolific explorers, or those who uncover and successfully retrieve a major artifact have their names shown on the displays of the Museum's halls.
